Port Macquarie Coastal Walk

WALK THE COAST

The Port Macquarie Coastal Walk links Town Beach and Tacking Point Lighthouse through beaches, headlands and the rainforest edge of Sea Acres National Park. NSW National Parks rates the full one-way route as Grade 4, around 9 kilometres and 3–4 hours, so it is worth treating it as a real walk rather than a quick stroll.

You do not have to do it all at once. Break the walk into shorter sections around Town Beach, Oxley, Flynns, Shelly Beach and Tacking Point. Pick a distance that suits the day, take time at the lookouts, and leave room for the climbs, stairs and changing coastal conditions.

AT A GLANCE

• 9 km one way, approximately 3–4 hours for the full route

• Grade 4 track with stairs, beach sections and headlands

• Town Beach to Tacking Point Lighthouse; walk it in full or in shorter sections

BEFORE YOU GO

Check official NSW National Parks alerts and track conditions before you leave. Wear suitable shoes, carry water and sun protection, and plan transport if you are walking one way. Stay on formed tracks and do not rely on mobile coverage through the national park.
